Former Landrieu staffer to run for City Council

SHREVEPORT TIMES - March 16, 2010.

Former staff member for Sen. Mary Landrieu Jeff Everson on Tuesday announced his candidacy for Shreveport City Council District B, which includes downtown and at least parts of the Highland, South Highlands, Stoner Hill, Claiborne and Caddo Heights neighborhoods.

Everson, who works as the compressed natural gas projects director for Shreveport’s Ballengee Interests, will run as a Democrat. His top priorities include keeping the city safe to raise a family, encouraging a vibrant cultural scene and making City Hall more fiscally responsible.

“District B is the heart of Shreveport and it deserves a person who can represent its many and diverse interest,” Everson said. “I offer a fresh voice.”

The 31-year-old is a 1997 graduate of Shreveport’s Byrd High School and a 2001 graduate of Centenary College, he said. Everson is married to Andrea Everson, veterinarian at Robinson’s Rescue Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic.

Small business owner Craig Lee said in February that he will run for the District B seat as an independent candidate.
