Jeff Everson has spent his professional life working to care for and promote the interests of the City of Shreveport. From his current work to expand local natural gas markets to his more than five years of advocating for Shreveport’s interests to our senior representation in the US Senate, Jeff has been dedicated to assisting Shreveport reach its highest potential.
Everson grew up in Shreveport, attending St. Joseph Catholic School before enrolling in Caddo Public Schools Middle Magnet and C.E. Byrd High School. He then attended Centenary College where he was an active member of the Centenary community, serving as Student Body Treasurer for two terms among many other activities. In four years Jeff earned two degrees: one in Business Administration with a minor in Finance and one in Economics with a minor in Political Science, both with honors.
Seeking to gain knowledge about the workings of municipal government, Everson began his career with the City of Memphis working in their Department of Community Development as a Special Projects coordinator working on a public/private partnership to revitalize Uptown Memphis. When an opportunity arose to return to Shreveport as the Director of Development of the Alliance for Education, Jeff returned. Through his interactions with the education community in Caddo Parish, Jeff was asked to join the staff of Sen. Mary Landrieu in 2004. For five years he worked to represent the interests of North Louisiana by building relationships with various local governments, private sector businesses, non-profits and individuals. In 2009, after having worked on several issues related to the Haynesville Shale, Everson was offered the opportunity to manage the compressed natural gas investments of Ballengee Interests. In early 2010 Red River CNG was formed to help open the Northwest Louisiana market to compressed natural gas vehicles.
During his career, Jeff has dedicated his time to a variety of organizations and causes. He currently serves as Chairman of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Initiative. He also serves on the Board of the Caddo Council on Aging as 2nd Vice President of the Executive Committee.
He sits on the Board of the New Leaders Council, a non-partisan leadership development organization. Jeff is also a member of the Highland Restoration Association, the Fairfield Historic District Association, the Highland Area Partnership, and the Krewe of Highland. Everson provides Notary services for Open Arms Adoption Agency. In the past, Jeff has served as President of the local chapter of the Centenary College Alumni Association. As a moderate Democrat, he has worked on several major political campaigns in Louisiana.
Jeff is married to Dr. Andrea Master Everson, Medical Director for Louisiana’s first low cost-spay/neuter clinic, Robinson’s Rescue. Jeff and Andrea live in the Highland/ Fairfield Historic District with their four dogs. They love the area for its vibrancy, diversity and historic qualities.
